My name is Deb.

I am excited to share a little about me. I am a mother of 3 adult children, a retired teacher, a wife, & an empty-nester. My grandma taught me the art of crochet & I have made it a mission to share it with those who are in need of encouragement, blessings, & prayer.

Hi there! I’m Deb.

I am also known as Deborah, Debbie, mom, and Mrs. Dyrssen. But to most, (friends, co-workers, and acquaintances) I am known as Deb, My name of choice. To my family (parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews) I am known as Debbie. The names Mom, Mother, or Mor, (Swedish for mother as my husband is from Sweden)are references used by my kiddos.

About My Home

Currently, I’m living in the heart of Texas, where everything is “Go big or go home”! The love of my life married me 30 years ago and together we have 3 beautiful adult children.

I have not always lived in Texas, I was born and raised in the upper Midwest. There the summers are hot, winters are long (and oftentimes harsh), and people generally live close to where they grew up.

About My Past

I taught elementary school for 30 years before retiring from that scene last May. During my years of teaching I taught in public, private Christian schools, and home school coops., teaching students in all grades from preschool through 6th grade.

My three beautiful children are now all adults. My boys have moved to other states and have wonderful young ladies in their lives. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful, supportive family.

While my children were young, my days were busy with teaching, classroom prepping, and management by day. On nights, weekends, and summers I chauffeured my kiddos to their activities Life was busy in those “good old days”, but very rewarding. Now my two older boys have finished college and moved to other states ( Colorado and Oklahoma). My youngest has graduated from high school and is working full time. I am home alone during the days. When my husband is away, I enjoy quiet weekends and evenings.

About Me Today

As a mid-life, stay at home mom I know it can be challenging to navigate through this new phase/journey known as the “empty-nest”. This transition from going nonstop (or so it seemed) to seemingly sitting still all day has been tough, I am not going to lie! Especially when you are an extrovert ( yep that’s me)! But I decided to take this stage by the horns and make the best of it.

About My Mission

I started DulceBella Designs to share my journey and made it my mission to encourage others through the art of crochet. Therefore, I want to help expand your knowledge, skills, and techniques through valuable resources. This is a place to design, create and share homemade gifts, home accents, and wearable art. But most importantly, I am here to encourage, uplift, bless, and pray for each visitor to DulceBella Designs.
