Treble Crochet
SKILL LEVEL Very Easy/Basic Beginner
MULTIPLES Any number of chains + 3
PROJECT IDEAS Scarf, hat, blanket, shawl
The Treble Crochet is the tallest of the basic stitches in crochet. This stitch is not as stable as the other basic stitches, therefore it is not used on its own much. Generally, you will see it used as part of a pattern and supported by other stitches. In addition, it is similar to the double crochet and the turning chain usually counts as a treble stitch. Hence, you would skip working another stitch into the turning chain at the beginning of a row.

MY FAVORITE PATTERNS USING THE TREBLE STITCH
Here is a great hat pattern, for example, that I found that uses the treble crochet stitch. I have made this pattern several times with different color combinations. I highly recommend trying it. It uses the treble crochet as well as other basic stitches. Have fun with it and you can find it here.
