The Slip Stitch

The Slip Stitch is the smallest of the 6 basic stitches in crochet. Generally, crafters use it as a connecting stitch, like to sew crocheted pieces together to make a larger finished project. However, using it in combination with other taller stitches creates unique texture to the fabric. For example, the slip stitch when used with the half double crochet, creates a stitch known as the Even Moss Stitch. Together, these stitches then create a beautiful texture. In addition it can be used on its own, which creates a very dense fabric that resembles knitting.
