This half double crochet cluster is a great stitch to use if you are wanting to venture out a bit. This stitch is worked over two stitches, but creates a unique texture. Because the HDC Custer stitch creates a thicker or denser fabric, making it great for fall and winter projects. Another benefit of this stitch is that it works great for lots of different types and weights of yarn. So try that heavier or lighter weight yarn you have been wanting to use. It is great to use in lots of projects like blankets, scarves, and hats as well as many other projects.
Half Double Crochet Cluster Across Two Stitches (HDC CL)
YO insert hook in indicated stitch. YO pull up a loop. Now, YO and insert into next stitch. YO pull up a loop. YO pull through 5 loops on hook.

ROW 1
In 3rd ch from hook, YO insert hook in indicated stitch. YO pull up a loop. Then YO and insert into next stitch. YO pull up a loop. Once again, YO and pull through 5 loops on hook. *YO insert hook into ch just worked, YO pull up a loop. YO insert hook into next ch, YO and pull up a loop. Finally, YO pull through all 5 loops on hook.* Repeat across. Ch 2 and turn.
ROW 2
YO insert hook into the base of the ch 2. YO pull up a loop. Again, YO insert into the next stitch, YO pull up a loop. Once again, YO pull through all 5 loops on hook.* YO insert into the stitch just worked, YO and pull up a loop. YO insert hook into next stitch, YO pull up a loop. YO pull through all 5 loops on hook.* Repeat across row. Ch 2 and turn.
