The American Half Treble Crochet
SKILL LEVEL Very Easy/Basic or Beginner

The American Half Treble crochet stitch is another of the basic crochet stitches. It is slightly shorter than the treble crochet, but slightly taller than the double crochet. It has a little more stable than the treble crochet and is great to use in combination with other stitches in scarves, blankets, hats, and shawls. This stitch adds lots of height to a project and creates an airly loose fabric.
The American Half Treble Crochet (HTr)
YO twice, insert hook in the indicated stitch. YO and pull up a loop, YO adn pull through two loops, YO and pull through remaining 3 loops on hook.
MAKING A SWATCH:
FOUNDATION CHAIN:
Any Multiple of chains + 4 chains.
ROW 1: Starting in the 5th chain from the hook, *YO twice, insert hook, YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops, YO and pull through remaining 3 loops. Repeat from * in each chain. CH 4 and turn. (Turning chain counts as a stitch.)
ROW 2: Starting in the 2nd stitch, *YO twice, insert your hook, YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through two loops, YO and pull through remaining 3 loops. Repeat from * in each stitch to end of row. The last stitch will be worked into the top of the turning chain. CH 4 and turn.

The half treble crochet stitch is a versatile stitch, making it easy to incorporate into many different styles of patterns.
